I just love the giraffe prints that seem to be so popular this season. They are not as wild as leopard or zebra prints, and manage to look fun in just about any color. I really like this shoulder bag, which by the way is a great price right now at Elaine Turner. The hardware really dresses it up and the brown and ivory color palette is so neutral it would be perfect for fall. Just $138, down from $350!

Raglan Long Sleeve Dress $195
My newest obsession is James Perse. The brand is pretty new to me, but what I do know is they make the best t-shirts around, and his products are made in the USA.
Besides some really great looking dresses and loungewear, the star of the show are the t-shirts. They come in just a few understated styles in basic colors, and really thats all I want…just a great looking t-shirt. The white vintage v-neck - awesome. At $55 a pop, its kind of steeep, but if you get look around, you might find some on sale. Ive found that Shopbop has a great collection to get you started.

I found a great site called Le Train Bleu. They have a great assortment of both cheap and chic and the brands they sell are so new and different I can’t get enough.
You’ll see they sell dresses, tops, shoes and acessories. They also have an apothecary section…that always excites me. Here are some of my favorite picks…

Checkers Peeps $82

The focus of my latest obsession has been the website beautycrunch. It is an authorized seller of discontinued Stila, Too Faced, and DuWop cosmetics.
Cosmetic companies cannot have “sales” like clothing companies have because it could cheapen their reputation. So this is were it gets good - the items on this site (I love love love Stila) are more than 50% off their original price, plus, unless you’re a resident of California, you’re not paying sales tax. This can add up to a big savings for you. Here are some of my favorites - they are amazing.

stila winter palette in glacier ice - $12

stila - best of glamour - $30

too faced - candy lips - $8

stila - travel brush set and case - $30 (what a steal!!!)
Stock up on some goodies for yourself!

This is a perfect example of something being beautiful and useless at the same time. Maybe I sound harsh, because I do love this amazing little clutch, and I suppose everything doesn’t have to be completely utilitarian. However, one of my basic requirements is that I should at least be able to carry my keys and a lipstick! Made in Italy.
Below are a few more beautifully impractical items from the Neiman Marcus sale going on now. Free shipping too with code NMSHIP. I’m obsessed!

You must try the new M&M ice cream bar.
I must give credit where credit is due…I borrowed this photo from a very spontaneous and talented photographer from the internet on the photo sharing site Flickr. It was the best I could find and obviously, they too were very excited about their own free treat.
I got a real treat the other day when I got a free sample over my lunch hour. Yes, it was full size too. The two people dressed as giant M&M’s was handing them out left and right and given that it was an 85 degree day, it was like a mob scene.
The shell was very interesting - it seemed like a double-dipped chocolate - one chocolate layer covered by a colored chocolate layer. I especially love the sort of spray-painted “M” on the front of each one. Why didn’t they think of this sooner?
Next time you are at the store, try them, they’re grrreat!

I was admiring these Giles & Brother hoops on sale at Barney’s, and then I realized they are even cheaper at Shopbop. Shobop, I might add, is my new favorite store. When they have a sale, they really have a sale. You can get just about anything there, from $20 t-shirts to designer shoes.
These great earrrings are the large chaton rinestone hoops and come in a bunch of great colors. This one is called citrine. They have other products in the line too, including necklaces and cuff bracelets. Made in New York City.

Continuing my obsession with everyday objects that are not quite as the seem, the crumple cup (below) is such a fun little find. Many of you might remember the Lucky Beggar cup (they also make a Lucky Beggar coin purse). Known by generations as the iconic New York City paper coffee cup, the Lucky Beggar makes us all feel a little bit nostalgic with its “We are happy to serve you” message accross the front.
My newest find is the crumpled cup, available at the MOMA store. What looks like a wrinkled little plastic picnic cup is instead a sturdy white porcelain beauty that would be fun to use for just about anything. Get the set of three and have some crumpled coffee with two of your closest friends. ($35)

Since I will be at a lovely wine tasting today as part of my cousin’s wedding festivities, I wanted to share with you my most favorite wine in the whole world…Pomelo.
Pomelo is a sauvignon blanc made by Mason Wine Cellars in Napa Valley, California. I tried my first glass at a restaurant here in Chicago called Bin 36, but if you cant find it in a store near you, perhaps they can order it for you, or you can order it right from Mason Cellars. Their latest vintage, 2007 has also just been released!
Pomelo is acutally a large yellow citrus fruit native to southeast Asia, especially Malaysia. The fruit tastes and feels a lot like a sweet grapefruit and smells oh so nice. If you love zippy citrus flavors in your white wine, you will love Pomelo. And the price is nice too at $15 or less per bottle.
